Mini bio
I was born in the south east of England and moved to Yorkshire in 2002 where I now live with my 2 children. As a single parent, I am passionate about being a role model for my daughters and helping them to grow into strong, independent young women who aim for their dreams and contribute positively to society.

Professional Highlights

What advice would you give to other women in technology?
Being assertive holds tremendous power. You have a voice, use it - whether it is speaking up in a meeting, posing those difficult questions in an all hands / town hall meeting, or whether it's putting your ideas forward during a project.

Working in IT is so much fun - you get to be involved in so many things, learning new skills, meetings all sorts of people. Whether you're technical or not, it doesn't matter. At the end of the day as everything revolves around service and how you interact with your customers (be they internal or external), communication is key.

How would you approach encouraging more women into a STEM career?
I would love to speak in schools, colleges or universities to girls and young women to tell them about the fun they can have in IT, why it's a good choice and that "boy jobs" or "girl jobs" don't exist - there are just jobs!

I'm not a natural techie and didn't even know how to use a computer until I started university as they didn't have them in my school when I was growing up. Nevertheless I have forged a successful career in IT and aim to inspire the younger generations to look to a career in IT.

Be bold. Be brave. Be you!
